CADET
COMMANDER
Promoted to Cadet Lieutenant Colonel
ALSO RECEIVES CONGRESSIONAL NOMINATION TO USAF ACADEMY
|
“C/Lt Col Miller is an outstanding cadet officer and very dedicated to his fellow cadets,” said squadron commander Major Charles Miller. “Jake has worked very hard for his goals and I am very pleased with his success in the program. He is a tremendous asset to the squadron and has a bright and promising future ahead of him.” Jacob Miller is a senior at Warsaw Central School, and is the son of Glenn and Rebecca Miller of Warsaw. Miller serves as the Condor Composite Squadron’s Cadet Commander, responsible for the twenty nine cadets under his command. Because of his interest in service to his country, Cadet Miller is applying to the United States Air Force Academy, and recently received a nomination to the USAF Academy from Congressman Tom Reynolds. This is a necessary step in the application process to any of the United States’ military academies. The General Ira C. Eaker Award, USCAP’s newest award, denotes successful completion of all sixteen achievements and four phases of the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program. It recognizes cadet completion of the academic, leadership, moral leadership and physical fitness curriculum in existence since 1964. The General Ira C. Eaker Award is the fourth milestone in the cadet program. This award is earned for completion of all sixteen achievements. Approximately 100 cadets per year complete Phase IV and will receive the Eaker Award. This award honors the late Air Force General Ira C. Eaker, aviation pioneer, career military officer and one of the chief architects and visionaries of the US Air Force. <end> |

A Message from the Commander:
|
To the Senior Officers and Cadets of the Condor Composite Squadron:
It is with great Honor and Pride that I Congratulate all of you for a
"JOB WELL DONE". It was my pleasure to
accept, on your behalf, the New York Wing 2006 Squadron of
Merit Award. The significance of this award is that Condor
Composite was selected at the Number 1 squadron in New York Wing. It has
been through the hard work of all those in the squadron, now and over the
past five years, that has contributed to this award. This award not only
belongs to the Seniors and Cadets but to the parents, my "Core of Cadets"
going back to September of 2000, and my friend, mentor and leader LtC.
Diane Wojtowicz (Finger Lakes Group Commander). I find it still very
difficult to comprehend the magnitude of this award.
We have been also honored to have been selected at the 2006 North
East Region (NY, NJ, CT, RI, ME, MA, VT, NH) "SQUADRON
OF DISTINCTION". That honor has put our squadron as
the "NUMBER 1" in the Region. We are now poised to go to the National
Conference in Reno, NV, in August, to find out if Condor, among the other
seven Region Squadrons of Distinction, will be selected as the "NUMBER 1"
squadron in the nation.
As the Squadron Commander, I am at a lost for words to describe my
feelings in accepting such honors. My wife and myself will be going to
Reno, NV and hopefully, we shall return with the highest honor that can be
bestowed on a CAP squadron. From the bottom of my heart, I thank each and
everyone of you for your "Outstanding Performance"
and in my mind and heart you are already the Number 1 Squadron in the
Nation.
Charles W. Miller, Maj, CAP
Commander
Condor Composite Squadron NY-354
